common geographic database

is a bit of time I flashed in his head the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a complete and updated database of all the municipalities of Italy contained the most information possible.

After a long process I could in my view, creating a database that contains within it geographical information for each municipality. Made with postgres and postgis subsequently been transformed and made Mysql to support the needs of those who wish to use this database on the internet offering shared hosting services mainly for MySQL database.

Many people ask what can serve a geographic database for municipalities. Well the answer is very simple, just see a small example of what I made with this database:

http://www.symrad.net/

To put it simply, in this you have a map navigation on three different levels depending on the zoom level adopted, for example:
the zoom level that ranges from 0 to 7 can be seen from the regional boundaries
zoom level ranging from 8 to 14 is can see from the provincial borders
zoom level from 15 onwards you can see the municipal boundaries

Furthermore, pointing the mouse over the polygons you can see in the box on the right crest and the name of the regions, provinces or municipalities (always depending on the zoom level where you are).

The database consists of 8 tables:

Regions (20 lines)
Geometrieregioni (20 lines)
Provinces (110 lines)

Provincegeometrie (110 lines) Capgrandicitta (90,264 lines, as every big city like Milan, Rome has more ZIP codes in the database for each city that has these requirements are all the way with post code)

Fractions (55,207 lines)

Some goodies in the database are:
The presence of coats of arms of regions, provinces and municipalities (for the municipalities have 8000 badges).
The latitude and longitude of the communes and villages. The boundaries
regional, provincial and municipal. The CAP of large cities. Web sites of 7354 municipalities.

Information on individual municipalities such as population, patron saint, the feast of the town, maximum and minimum latitude, latitude town hall, register code, locator code, Istat, climatic zone, and more.

The database is updated with the new provinces and new municipalities.

Install Apache Php Mysql Postgres

First, I explain why you separately install Apache, Php, Mysql and Postgres.
programs all in one like EasyPHP or Wamp offer a good service, why install everything in one executable. Become
a problem when you need to install on your computer such as Postgres and MySQL, and pointing to these two databases communicate with each other.
EasyPHP is a valuable tool for working with PHP and Mysql and there is another to work with PHP and Postgres. The problem is that installing two such services we would face a two apache servers on the same computer, one thing that is really inconvenient as it will be much more difficult to communicate with each other the two databases.

To work around this problem you need to install Apache, Php, Mysql and Postgres separately. Contrary to what I thought was a very simple operation that takes a few minutes. A further advantage which derives from this is that we will be separately installed PHP with all the extensions already present in it without even having to go look at a later time (eg the curl extension).
To do this, I refer you to an article I found online that explains step by step how to do:

http://www.phpnews.it/articoli/php/installare-apache-2-php-5- mysql-windows-41-on / 6 /

article does not explain how to install and run the Postgres server with Apache and PHP, so I will explain in brief:

First install Postgres (not I'm here to tell you how to do it because it is quite easy, just download the executable from site and follow the wizard)
Now simply go to the folder where you installed PHP and search for the php.ini file, look inside the following line below and decommentiamola (removing the semicolons), and save the that's it.

; extension = php_pgsql.dll ; extension = php_pdo_pgsql.dll

Wave Calls for Google

since no one has yet managed to explain the importance of wave google on the internet and they all do not know quite rough what it is, I will try to explain by listing some of its potential.

Wave is just a tool like other open-source tools such as google maps, gmail, youtube and many others that aims to bring together in-house many of the tools of Web 2.0 recently born. Of course aims to aggregate these tools and expand their potential.

Take, for example the ability to chat with friends while watching the conversation every single character they typed, and any correction to the text. This at first sight could look as unnecessary or even annoying in a chat room, because as you write a sentence then I think about it then write something else, reading etc?! Let's say it's as if we were talking in real time, so while one writes the other has the opportunity from responding immediately.
Now leaving aside the fact that we chat with this technology in a wave, you can share a video, create a custom map, for example to play sudoku with 50 other people at once, create a video conference, share photos .

And some will wonder but what a wave? I respond by saying that it is not just a bunch of people participating in discussion. To better clarify how the thread of a forum, or by the example of facebook is like a group. I hope I have made quite the idea if not watch the video below.

  • Be Many people think that this is a great innovation, as many social networks already do, albeit in a rougher and less evolved.

Imagine, for example, be a group of students who must do a search and everyone should do a piece or supervise. Many times you do not have the opportunity to meet in a place and use the internet to communicate. Everyone makes his own and someone joins the pieces, and correct them if necessary to give a logic to the document. With google wave would not need all this, since you can share in a wave a 'application. Imagine, therefore, to share a Word document. Now add to the wave all the people who must work in this research. Every part of the revised text by a single user will be viewed in real time from the other, so each participant can view the entire document and monitor what others are doing by being able to correct.

Ora non mi dilungo oltre sull'argomento perchè si potrebbero fare molti altri esempi ma mi sembra superfluo proseguire, l'importante è capire l'innovazione che sta alla base, once you understand this you will think of 1000 other reasons for using it.

Making a final example I could say that would be nice to be able to enter into a social network like facebook.
It gives us the ability to create applications like facebook but shared. Create public or private discussion groups, chat, create video conferencing and more.

But it is also possible that if social networks do not do them this technology, die gradually. As such, this Google service could also be considered a social network for all purposes.

Finally, makes available a total of 5 calls to see the beta of Google wave. If you are kind enough to work I will be happy to pass the call from 5 to 10 and so on, depending on number of visitors and people who work for now I have five business days and I still have some (who I must thank my asked them, they were very polite)
